About the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is an agency within the United States Department of Commerce that provides resources for weather conditions, oceanic endeavors, and environmental science. Their fleet of aircraft and seafaring vessels contain a full arsenal of sensors and equipment to study the conditions of the oceans and atmosphere.

Simpson Environmental Services assisted in the expansion of their Aircraft Operations Center in Lakeland, FL to accommodate larger aircraft needing to be housed in the facility. The performed work included the separation of the hanger roof and beams, with complete removal of 180,000 ft2 of the hanger, slabs, and foundation. Additional cutting of the 12-inch tilt-wall was completed for the new hangar door openings.
